International Olympics Day is celebrated every year on June 23 across the globe. The day is celebrated to promote the Olympics and highlight the mass sports events around the globe. Also, it is this day in 1984 when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was formed.
Many sportspersons took to social media to commemmorate the day virtually amid the pandemic-induced lockdown.
P.T.Usha, former Olympic Track & Field Athlete shared her video from trck during Olympics on Twitter and wrote, "Once an Olympian, always an Olympian. The values it teaches you stays forever. Learnt to inculcate these values in my daily life and itβs brought me a long way. Wishing everyone a Happy #OlympicDay!"
Viren Rasquinha, former Captain of the Indian Hockey Team and ex-Olympian made a throwback post to his time at Olympics at Athens in 2004 on Twitter.
He wrote, "Barely have a picture from my time at the Olympics #Athens2004. Blame it on no mobile phones in those days and plus I just wasnβt bothered about pictures. But Happy International Olympic Day everyone. Letβs encourage all our kids to go out and play (once things are safe)"
Here's how other sportspersons and Olympians commemmorated the day. Have a look.
