Day after Ravi Shankar Prasad's resignation as Union IT minister during the Union cabinet reshuffle, rumors are going viral on social media that he may be appointed as the governor for the state of Tamil Nadu.
While there are tweets from BJP leaders and workers congratulating Prasad, there has been no official communication from the Narendra Modi-led government.
There are also congratulatory messages from Twitter handles of many BJP leaders of Tamil Nadu, however, most of these are not verified. There is no update on the website of the Governor of Tamil Nadu and it mentions Banwarilal Purohit as the current gvernor. There is no such information on the official Twitter account of Tamil Nadu BJP either.
Ravi Shankar is currently a member of Lok Sabha from Patna Sahib seat in Bihar.
There were talks of former Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadekar being promoted to senior organisation posts within the BJP soon. Sources had said these leaders may be appointed as the party’s National General Secretary or Vice President.
Even as rumours abound on the internet, more details are awaited.
