All-rounder Deepak Hooda, who smacked a 57-ball 104 in India's thrilling four-run win over Ireland at Dublin, said scoring a ton for the country is a special feeling.
Hooda became only the fourth batsman from the country to score a century in men's T20I cricket.
Best moment
“Scoring century for India is always special. It gave me goosebumps. It feels good that you score for your country and at the same time your team is winning. This is my best moment,” Hooda said during a chat with teammate Sanju Samson for the BCCI.TV.
The right-handed batsman admitted feeling nervous in the 90s.
“It was nervous nineties for me. For the first time, I was scoring a ton for the country. But overall, things are turning out well," Hooda added.
Talking about his mindset, the Lucknow Super Giants revealed that living in the present and playing the situation better was his approach.
'Not thinking too far ahead'
"Being a cricketer, what I have learnt lately is that you should not think too far ahead. How many ever series come, just look at it one game at a time. If my work ethic is good, I will be in a good space of mind and I'm going to score, that's my thinking. I try to keep it simple, live in the present, play the situation better, and then automatically the outcome will come. Now or later, it will come, that's how I think," said Hooda after the match.
