It's trailer launch day today as Tamil cinema and literature fans eagerly await with bated breath to find out the mystery surrounding the second installment of 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'.
Helmed by filmmaker Mani Ratnam, fans are completely excited about the trailer that will be launched later on Wednesday evening at the huge Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai alongside the film's music launch. With music and original score by the maestro A. R. Rahman, team 'PS2' revealed a brand new poster of the film featuring actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The poster builds up the frenzy and excitement that is surely going to explode in packed cinema halls, where the quest for ultimate power will be concluded.
The earlier 'PS1' ended with revered warrior Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan (Karthi) and the heir to the Chola empire Arulmozhi Varman (Ravi), jumping to their death and presumed to have drowned when Oomai Rani, the older lookalike of Nandini, evil Queen of Pazhuvoor (Bachchan) swims towards rescuing them.
Starring a fine ensemble of the most powerhouse actors in Tamil cinema, 'PS2' stars Prakash Raj, R. Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Jayachitra, Vidya Subramanian, Mohan Raman, and Riyaz Khan.
Based on author Kalki Krishnamurthy's culturally impactful novel, 'PS1' grew to become a roaring success in Tamil Nadu as generations of cinema and literature enthusiasts thronged to the theatres. It became the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2022 and the fourth highest grossing Tamil film of all time and the fifteenth highest grossing Indian film of all time.
The excitement of 'PS2' was raised by the preview of the 'Aga Naga' song that featured Vandiyadevan and Kundavai sharing a romantic introspection.
