The deadline for filing objections and suggestions on the ward-wise draft voter lists published for the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been extended till July 3, 2022.
The ward-wise draft voter lists have been published for the general elections of Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivali, Ulhasnagar, Vasai-Virar, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Nashik, Akola, Amravati and Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
Ward-wise draft voter lists are also available on the respective municipal corporations, their websites and True-Voter Mobile App. The deadline for filing objections and suggestions was July 1, 2022, but the deadline has now been extended to July 3, 2022. Necessary arrangements will be made for this even on Sundays and Saturdays.
Sandeep Malvi, additional commissioner, TMC said, "Objections and suggestions can also be lodged at the municipal office or at the place authorised by them and also through True-Voter Mobile App. The True-Voter mobile app can be downloaded to the mobile from the Play Store. Accordingly, name can be found in the ward-wise draft voter list and if there is any objection, it can also be filed. After clicking on the 'Voter List' search menu one can enter name and mobile number and proceed. Searching for the name will reveal the full details. One can register objection by clicking on 'Voter List Objection', selecting 'Voter List Election Program 2022' and then going to the appropriate option."
The state election commission does not have the power to add new names or omit names from the list of assembly constituencies when dividing them into wards. An objection can be lodged if a voter is allotted a wrong ward or if his name is not in the corporation's voter list even though his name is in the assembly voter list. Although the deadline for filing objections and suggestions has been extended, the ward-wise final voter lists will be released on July 9, 2022.
