As promised, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) handed over keys to home buyers of 2018-19 housing schemes during a function held on Thursday in Kalamboli. Thane district guardian minister Eknath Shinde handed over the keys to a few home buyers. Under the scheme, CIDCO has constructed a total of 14,838 houses of which 5,262 houses are for the economically weaker section (EWS) and 9,576 houses for the low-income (LIG) group.
While handing over the keys to lucky home buyers, Shinde said that the houses constructed by CIDCO are much lower in cost with good construction quality. “It is noteworthy that these houses built by CIDCO are available at very affordable rates as compared to the houses in the surrounding area. The construction quality is good and these factors further strengthen the confidence of the general public in CIDCO,” said Shinde.
CIDCO had launched 14,838 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the year 2018-19. Under this scheme, the houses have been constructed at 11 locations in Ghansoli, Kharghar, Kalamboli, Taloja and Dronagiri nodes in Navi Mumbai.
Out of 14,838 houses, 5,262 houses are for the EWS and 9,576 houses for the LIG group. These houses are 1 bhk (1 hall, 1 room, 1 kitchen, 2 toilets) and the floor area of the house available for the EWS is 25.81 sq.m and 29.82 sq.m for the LIG.

For the economically weaker sections, there are 2,862 houses at Taloja, 684 houses at Kharghar, 324 houses at Kalamboli, 528 houses at Ghansoli and 864 houses at Dronagiri. For the LIG group of 5,232 houses in Taloja, 1,260 houses in Kharghar, 582 houses in Kalamboli, 954 houses in Ghansoli and 1,548 houses in Dronagiri. CIDCO will allot these houses phase-wise.
Sanjay Mukherjee, vice chairman and managing director of CIDCO that the moment of handing over the flat to the successful applicants is a joy to fulfill the promise. “Successful applicants will be given possession of the houses in phases from today,” he added.
