MUMBAI: The BMC on Friday said that it is working towards formulating a plan for vaccinating the employees of restaurants and hotels.
The issue was discussed during the meeting of senior civic officials on Friday and senior officials have instructed each assistant municipal commissioner to prepare a list of employees associated with restaurants and hotels in their areas at a ward level.
"At present the issue is on the developmental stage and we are currently doing a headcount before taking the plan ahead. During the outbreak, the employees of hotels stood side by side with the BMC and helped us in setting up quarantine facilities over there," said a senior civic official.
"Depending on the final headcount we will reserve a quota of vaccines for the employees," the official added.
Officials furthermore said that by Monday evening or Tuesday morning, each ward officer should send the list of hotels and restaurants in their areas to the BMC head quarters, following which the call will be taken. At the meeting, a possibility of vaccinating employees of shopping establishments was also discussed.
