The Assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze who was shunted from the Mumbai crime branch over a series of allegations has now been transferred to Citizen Facilitation Centre at Mumbai police headquarters at Crawford market. Vaze was previously heading the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) and handling high some profile cases.
The development comes days after the state Home Minister announced Vaze's removal from the crime branch over mounting pressure from the opposition party which were demanding action against the cop over his alleged involvement in Mansukh Hiren's murder case.
On Thursday the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) probing Hiren's murder has questioned Vaze for 10 hours over the allegation levelled by Hiren's wife. In her statement to the police, she suspected Vaze's involvement in the murder.
Hiren a businessman from Thane came into the picture after 'his' car carrying 20 gelatine sticks found parked near the proximity of the Antilia residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. During the course of the investigation, Hiren was questioned several times by multiple agencies.
On March 5, Hiren's body was recovered from Retibunder Creek in Mumbra, the ATS is probing Hiren's murder case while the probe of Antilia episode has taken over by the National Investigation Agency.
