Mumbai’s one of the most prestigious festival is on, Ganesh Chaturthi has started from September 13 and Mumbai is filled with Ganesh mandals which consist of statues of Ganesha and one of the most Known Ganesh mandal is the one located in Khetwadi.
Khetwadi Ganraj is one of the most spectacular Ganesh statues in Mumbai. The mandal was established in 1959, but it found fame in 2000, after making the highest Ganesh idol in Indian history which stood 40 feet tall. The statue consist real gold jewellery. The plus point of visiting Khetwadi Ganraj is that there’s a Ganesh idol in almost every lane in the area.
Another known Ganpathi mandal is Mumbadevicha Ganraj, in the Masjid Bunder area of Charni Road. Inspired by the words of Bal Gangadhar Tilak the freedom fighters of Parmanand Wadi started celebrating the Ganeshotsav festival to unite people of society. Mumbadevicha Ganraj recently celebrated its 77 years of keeping the society intact. Blood donation camps are also organised by the mandal throughout the year. Their ganesha statues are always one of the most beautiful idols in Mumbai. According to Parmanand Wadi Bal Mitra Mandal, the 10-day festival sees 10 to 20 lakh people visit the area
Idol maker Krunal Patil and set designer Yatin Sawant’s Ganesha from Abyudyanagar Sarvajanik Ganeshutsav Mandal turns out quite attractive . See picture below
