Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Friday adjourned till two weeks the petitions filed by human rights' activist Sudha Bharadwaj and Gautam Navlakha, who have sought the clone copies of the entire electronic evidence being relied upon by the National Investigations Agency (NIA) against all the accused in the Bhima-Koregaon violence case.

This comes after the NIA sought some time from the bench of Justices Sambhaji Shinde and Nijamoodin Jamadar to respond to the petitions. The NIA meanwhile, agreed not to proceed with the framing of charges against the accused in the case, till two weeks. .

On Friday, when the matter was called out for hearing, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh for the NIA told the bench that the agency has almost finalised it's response to be filed in the matter.

"We will need some time, at least two weeks to file our reply as we are yet to take some instructions," ASG Singh told the judges.

Accordingly, the bench granted the time and adjourned the matter for two weeks.

The activists have sought the clone copies prior to the framing of charges so that they could defend the charges against them.

Notably, the NIA had made a statement in an earlier hearing that it won't proceed with framing of charges in the special court. The statement would now continue for two weeks.
