Agripada: A disturbing case of animal cruelty has come to light from Mumbai's Agripada. A man allegedly killed an unprovoked stray dog by smashing a stone on its head.
The incident reportedly took place at the Kasturba Staff Quarters premises. The accused has been identified as Deepak Nakwa, an employee of Kasturba Hospital.
CCTV footage surfaces
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on social media. As per the date mentioned in the clip, the incident took place on August 2 during the night hours.
The clip shows the animal inside a vehicle parking area, where the man suddenly brings a large stone. He can be seen holding the stone with both hands, lifting it up and then smashing it on the canine with full force.
"Every community dog has a name, a story and people who care for them. Mumbai's Saat Rasta witnessed yet another act of unimaginable cruelty. He wasn't a stray. He was Kaalu," shared X user @JahnaviIyer. She also shared that "Kaalu" was an old community dog.
Similar incident
Earlier on July 26, at Royal Flora Phase-2, a residential complex in the Palegaon area of Ambernath. According to the complaint a local resident, Raju Salunke allegedly pushed a stray cat from the 12th floor of the building, causing the animal to die on the spot.
Following the incident, animal lovers approached the Shivajinagar Police Station, where a case was registered against the accused. However, activists expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of the investigation, claiming that no concrete action, including the arrest of the accused, has been initiated despite the seriousness of the offence.
