Indore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone for new Indore-Manmad rail line on Saturday in Dhule in Maharashtra. Since its construction work will begin from Dhule, function was organised there. According to Sunil Udasi, chief public relations officers of Central Railway, said PM Modi laid the foundation for construction of first phase of project.
Under first phase, the railway line will be commissioned in 50.60-km section of Dhule and Nardhana at cost of Rs 492.76 crore. This section will be be completed by 2023. Those present on the occasion included shipping and transport minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharasthra chief minister Davendra Fadanvis and minister of state for defence production Dr Subhash Bhamare. Indore-Manmad railway project will reduce distance between Indore-Mumbai by 170 kilometres and goods meant for export can be sent from Pithampur and Dewas through this route directly to JN Port Trust in Mumbai.
