​Indore: BJP, Cong to make last-ditch efforts to woo voters today for urban body polls

While there are other candidates also in the fray, it is believed that the contest for mayoral post will be between Pushyamitra Bhargav of BJP and Sanjay Shukla of Congress. In case of corporator elections, there is contest between BJP, Congress and independent candidates in some wards.

With just two days to go for voting for urban body elections, both the main rival parties BJP and Congress are going to make last-ditch efforts to woo voters as campaigning will stop at 5 pm, on Monday.

While Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is going to seek votes for BJP candidates contesting mayoral and corporator’s elections, Congress mayoral candidate Sanjay Shukla will fire on all cylinders with local party leaders by his side.

While there are other candidates also in the fray, it is believed that the contest for mayoral post will be between Pushyamitra Bhargav of BJP and Sanjay Shukla of Congress. In case of corporator elections, there is contest between BJP, Congress and independent candidates in some wards.

Young mayor will create a new history of progress: Sharma

BJP state president VD Sharma here on Sunday said that BJP mayoral candidate Pushyamitra Bhargav, the youngest candidate to contest mayoral polls in the state, will create a new history of progress if elected to power.

“We have given a chance to a young candidate because we want to ‘energize’ the growth of Indore which is making progress in each and every field,” said Sharma while addressing a gathering at Raj Mohalla.

He participated in a Yuva Vijay Sankalp rally of BJYM on Monday. Sharma said that he is confident that Bhargav and all party corporator candidates will have a landslide victory in the polls.

Bhargav did an intensive campaign in urban areas of Rau and Indore-4 assembly constituencies. Bhargav said that the BJP's council has done the work of strengthening the security and health infrastructure along with developing Indore in other fields. He stated that he will expedite the development pace if BJP won the polls. He stated that BJP governments are at Centre and in the state. “If Indore again gets IMC council led by BJP then, the growth will continue unabated,” he added.

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya also did a road show in Rau, Indore-3 and Indore-5 and constituencies seeking votes for BJP candidates contesting urban body polls.
