Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): A plantation drive was organised by the Sun City Dewas residents at one of the gardens of the campus at 7:30 am on Sunday. Saplings of Paras, Peepal, Shisham, Jamphal, Champa Neem, Mulberry, Belpatra, Almond, and others were planted by the people.
All the residents and dignitaries took an oath to protect the trees and environment. Addressing the programme, All India Kayastha state spokesperson Pradeep Khare explained the importance of trees in the life of human beings.
On this occasion, the chief priest of the Ganesh temple, Pandit Om Prakash Sharma, Satyanarayan Sharma, Ratneshwar Mishra, Bal Indu Dubey, and others were also present.
District-level badminton tourney starts
A two-day badminton championship was inaugurated at Kushabhau Thackeray Badminton Hall, Dewas on Saturday. It was conducted under the joint aegis of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Dewas and Dewas District Badminton Association.
About 100 to 120 juniors and seniors of the district are participating in the tournament. The guests of the programme were MPEB assistant engineer Girish Aggarwal, district sports officer Hemant Suveer, national player Prajwal Malakar, social worker Naveen Solanki, Raghuveer Yardi, and many others. Guests were welcomed by badminton union secretary Rohit Gupta, Vikas Govil, and Robin Rajpal. Hemendra Nigam conducted the programme and the vote of thanks was proposed by Achyut Malakar.
