Kolkata: The person who had entered the premises of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in the wee hours of Sunday has been taken into police custody.
According to police sources, one Hafisul Mulla (30), a resident of Hasnabad was present before Alipore Session court following which the court had ordered police custody to Mulla.
“We are investigating the matter and trying to find out his motive behind entering the premises of the Chief Minister’s residence. Whether he came to study the area or had some other motive, we are probing the matter,” said the police sources.
It can be noted that in the wee hours of Sunday a breach of security took place after a person entered the premises of Mamata Banerjee’s residence and was inside the premises for the entire night until a security personnel of Mamata caught her in the morning and handed him over to Kalighat police station.
Soon after the incident was known to people, the opposition slammed the police and questioned the security of common people of the state if the Chief Minister is not secured.
According to former Police DG Pankaj Dutta, no one has the right to breach the security of the Chief Minister.
“Security personnel who were on duty should also be quizzed and the person who is responsible for the breach of security should be dealt with seriously. No one has the right to play with the security of the Chief Minister,” mentioned Dutta.
After the breach of security, senior police officials including Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the residence of the Chief Minister and the police sources confirmed that security will be increased in front of Chief Minister’s residence.
BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh said that in the name of security more police will be deployed in front of CM's residence and there will be scarcity of police in the districts.
However, Congress termed the incident as a ‘gimmick’.
