Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appointed her nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the national general secretary of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Maintaining the rule of ‘one person one post’, soon after getting the new post Abhishek resigned from the post of president of All India Trinamool Congress’ (AITC) youth wing.
Notably, Mukul Roy and Subrata Bakshi were earlier the national general secretaries of the AITC.
Addressing a press conference after the organisational meet, TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said actor-turned-politician Saayoni Ghosh would be the new president of AITC’s youth wing.
“The Trinamool Congress supemo stressed new and young faces for various organizational posts. Ritabrata Banerjee became the president of INTTUC, Sayantika Banerjee and Kunal Ghosh became the state general secretary of the Trinamool Congress,” said Partha.
He said that under the leadership of the MPs, the Trinamool Congress will soon strengthen their party outside West Bengal.
“Discussions were held to fight the 2024 parliamentary election. The first step towards the 2024 election is to strengthen the organisation outside West Bengal. Soon we will start the movement,” said Partha.
Asked whether discussions were held on the ‘ghar wapsi’ of the defected leaders to which Partha said though the issue was discussed in the meeting but the final call will be taken by Mamata.
