Ignoring the minister large scale transfers have been made in Uttar Pradesh health department. Irked over it the Deputy Chief Minister of UP Brajesh Pathak who is having the charge of the department has sought explanation. The officer in charge of the department had issued transfer list while the minister concerned was away in Hyderabad to attend the national executive meeting of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
Mocking at it, the Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that it seems the Yogi government is being run by someone else and the ministers have no say. He said that when the Dy CM was out of state, the bureaucrats running his department made large-scale transfers with informing him.
In a letter written to the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Health, Amit Mohan Prasad, the Dy CM Pathak has sought details of all transfers made in the recent past and the reasons behind it. It may be mentioned that Yogi Government has issued a new transfer policy last month. After the new policy was enforced, thousands of transfers were made in various department of state in the last one week. As per the policy, the transfers were to be made between June 15 to June 30. The Dy CM in his letter has questioned over the transfers made in his department and said that policy was not followed properly. He said that a large number of doctors from the big hospitals including Lucknow and other district and no replacement was given. Already these hospitals have been facing the crisis of specialist doctors.
The Dy CM said that Lucknow being the state capital has maximum flow of patients from the nearby districts and despite this the specialist doctors working here were transferred. He said that these transfers have hampered the functioning of big hospitals and specially in Lucknow.
It may be mentioned that Dy CM Brajesh Pathak who is holding the charge of health department had hit headlines recently after he started making on spot inspection of hospitals. Besides he had also raided the go downs of hospitals and found expired medicines worth several crores. In a recent move, the Dy CM has started making phone calls to the indoor patients in government hospitals asking about the quality of treatment given to them.
