Zee News editor-in-chief and CEO Sudhir Chaudhary has resigned from his position, Newslaundry reported on Friday.
In his resignation letter addressed to Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra, Chaudhary said his decision was a "result of my internal deliberations" to "start my own enterprise".
He also sought blessings from Chandra while parting ways with the company "with heavy heart".
"I assure you that my proposed new venture (if successful) will make you happy and proud of me," he further added.
Chaudhary started his career with Zee and has been working in the TV news industry for close to three decades.
In 2003, he left Zee News and joined Sahara. He was instrumental in launching the company's Hindi news channel - Sahara Samay. Later, he was also associated with India TV for a brief period.
In 2012, Chaudhary rejoined Zee News and began hosting its prime time show Daily News & Analysis (DNA). The show became extremely popular, however, it also invited criticism on many occasions.
