Kanta Prasad, 80-year-old owner of famous 'Baba Ka Dhaba' was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital last night after he consumed alcohol and sleeping pills, news agency ANI reported.
Prasad's wife, Badami Devi said she does not know what he consumed. While speaking to ANI she said, "I don't know anything, I don't know what did he eat. I had not seen. He fell unconscious, I was sitting at the dhaba. I brought him here. Doctor has not told us anything so far. I don't know what was going on in his mind".
According to reports, Kanta Prasad is in huge debt right now. Kanata Prasad was worried about paying his debts.
The expenses of Kanta Prasad included Rs 35,000 for restaurant rent, Rs 36,000 for salary of three employees and Rs 15,000 for ration, electricity and water. Gradually, the number of customers going to the restaurant decreased and the cost of the restaurant started increasing. After this, Kanta Prasad Baba had to close his restaurant.
Though 'Baba ka Dhaba' became an overnight sensation on social media last year, the second wave of Covid-19 hit the business hard and life seems to have come full circle for Kanta Prasad and wife Badaami Devi.
Kanta Prasad shot to fame last year after a YouTube video by Gaurav Wasan highlighting the miseries of the octagenarian couple during Covid lockdown went viral. After the video made by YouTuber Gaurav Wasan showing their hardships went viral, people donated generously to Prasad.
