Kolkata: At the end of her 3-day visit to Bengal, Union minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday alleged that there are places in the state where people are not getting the benefit of the central schemes.
Addressing the media, Smriti said that she has spoken with the district administration and informed them about the ‘distress’ of the people.
“Central schemes have become scams in Bengal. People have asked me to inform the administration to get them the central schemes as they are deprived of it,” said the Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare.
Earlier this day, Smriti took out a rally on ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and was seen interacting with people about the eight-year of governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union Minister was also seen having lunch at a party cadre’s residence.
Meanwhile, TMC questioned Smriti Irani's appointment as Minority Minister, who is a hard-core Hindu.
Countering the claims, Smriti said that she is ‘proud’ to serve people of India.
“I am proud to serve every person of my country. Someone can hate Modi but it is shameful if you hate being an Indian,” mentioned Smriti.
Smriti also slammed TMC for ‘questioning’ the national emblem inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi atop the new Parliament building.
It can be noted that TMC Rajya Sabha MP Jawhar Sircar took to Twitter and posted pictures slamming the Centre over the national emblem.
“Insult to our national symbol, the majestic Ashokan Lions. Original is on the left, graceful, regally confident. The one on the right is Modi’s version, put above new Parliament building — snarling, unnecessarily aggressive and disproportionate. Shame! Change it immediately!,” wrote Sircar.
