Punjab Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann will marry Dr Gurpreet Kaur today. This will be his second marriage; he and his first wife got divorced six years ago.
Dr Kaur, who hails from Pehowa in Kurukshetra, is 32 years old. She and Mann, who is 48, have known each other for a long time. The wedding will take place in Chandigarh. According to reports, AAP leader Raghav Chaddha has been given the responsibility for the preparations.
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tied the knot with TV journalist Amrita Rai in Tamil Nadu. The age difference between the two is 25 years.
Rai took to Facebook and confirmed the wedding by saying, "Those who themselves have no concept or belief in love and dignity tried to shame me on social media. But all during this period, I kept a dignified silence and went on with my work, believing in myself and my love for DIgvijaya."

A 70-year-old Periyar, E V Ramasamy, tied the knot to the 32-year-old Maniammai on July 9, 1949. The marriage caused outrage and was said to have caused a split in the organisation formed by the politician. Maniammai, who joined the Dravidar Kazhagam after her father's demise in early 20s, became Periyar's most trusted follower.
Periyar, himself, had explained that the marriage was "purely an arrangement to secure his property while satisfying the law."
HD Kumaraswamy got married to Sandalwood actor Radhika Kutty. The age difference between the pair is 27 years. Even before the election, Kumaraswamy was criticised severely for marrying Radhika despite being in a relationship with his first wife Anitha.
Rajathi Ammal is third wife of DMK supremo Muthuvel Karunanidhi, who passed away at the age of 94 on August 7, 2019. In the 1960s, he fell in love with Rajathi Ammal during an election campaign and married her as per a tradition started by the DMK was known as the ‘Swayam Maryada Kalyamam’ meaning ‘Marriage of Self-Respect’. The age difference between the duo was 21 years.
