Valmiki Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Sage Valmiki. The day is also referred as Pragat Divas. He is the first Sanskrit poet and author of legendary ancient epic Ramayana, consisting of 24,000 shlokas and 7 cantos (Kandas).
