A ‘fiery’ love story
During the shooting of ‘Mother India’, Sunil Dutt and Nargis came closer. Once, a fire engulfed the set. Sunil Dutt, without caring for his life, saved Nargis’ life. The latter was impressed. Dutt was exactly the opposite of Raj Kapoor. He was calm, shy and a plain-speaking person with a deep respect for women. When he came in Nargis’ life, she was emotionally drained. He always supported her in each every situation and never judged her for anything.
In an interview, Nargis said about her past and future, “I know that his shoulders were always there for me to cry on-and I also knew that his garments will absorb my tears and not scatter them out for people to make fun of me.”
