Alankrita Sahai tells Shikha Jain that the sooner we get over our obsession with perfection, the healthier it is
Gorgeous model-turned-actor and Miss India Earth title holder, Alankrita Sahai made her acting debut with the Netflix romantic comedy, Love Per Square Foot. The same year, she also played the role of Alisha in the film Namaste England. A stylish yet subdued dresser, she does have a weak spot for couture…
Fashion is a mix
Fashion is seasonal and essential. To me, it is an amalgamation of everything that surrounds me and how I feel.
Must-haves
High waist skirts and jeans, lots of white T-shirts and belts, sneakers of all colours and hangers (laughs)!
Current trends
Well, the Puma RS-X shoes and for me right now would also be the new tailoring tie dye street wear and bows.
Fashion icons
I don’t think Instagram or today’s generation lets you stay aloof. You know everything that’s happening around you, who wore what, when and also what not to do. I love magazines! I’m still old school so my fashion icons would include Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Karl Lagerfeld and Rekha from Bollywood.
Brands to shop from
I shop at Zara, Forever 21, Stradivarius, Topshop, H&M and Monki.
Haute appeal
Valentino Garavani, Zuhair Murad, Sabyasachi, Falguni and Shane, Nikhil and Shantanu, Alexander Mcqueen, Prabal Gurung, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin – they are the best.
Be subtle
When it comes to make-up, less is more. I usually just conceal the under-eyes, apply tint on the cheeks and lips and use a dash of mascara.
Hair guide
Eat lots of protein, oil your hair from time to time, go for hair spas and never miss out on regular trims—this is my advice for great hair and it’s not difficult to follow.
Fashion tips
Keep it simple, don’t over do it; under play instead. Let your personality speak for your clothes. Don’t be too loud.
Forever combo
My faves are high waist jeans with a crop top and a jacket with sneakers or bell bottoms with a nice shirt and heels.
Getting it right
Well, perfection is a facade – the sooner we get over it, the healthier it is. Wear clothes that are not too uncomfortable, style yourself well and pay attention to your hair because that probably is the deal breaker. So, keep it sexy yet simple depending on how you feel.
