The stunningly beautiful Dimple Kapadia turns 60 today. She debuted in Bollywood at the age of 16 in Raj Kapoor’s ‘Bobby’ opposite Rishi Kapoor, which was a blockbuster movie at that time.
She became the first sex symbol of Bollywood, when she wore a bikini in the film ‘Bobby’. She played a Christian Goan girl Bobby Braganza, and flaunted a new fashion trend which became an iconic pattern in Bollywood. She established herself in the Hindi Cinema in 80s. She act in more than 80 film including, ‘Saagar’, ‘Vikram’, ‘Jaanbaz’, ‘Insaaf’, ‘Saazish’, ‘Aakhri Adaalat’, ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Prahaar’, ‘Ajooba’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and among others. She won a Filmfare Award for Best actress for ‘Saagar’ and ‘Bobby’.
When she asked the secret behind her good looks, she once said, “If you insist on knowing why I look younger than my age, then I’ll tell you. It’s poker. Let me think of the formula. I sleep at 4 p.m. and get up at 2 a.m. No, I’m just kidding. I’ve no clue as to why I look the way I am.”
“People feel I look younger than my age. I don’t feel that way. I think all my contemporaries are glowing these days. If you still insist I look younger than my contemporaries, then it could be because I play poker, the others don’t. That’s the secret,” she added.
Do you know? At a very small age she become a wife of ‘Kaka’ Rajesh Khanna. She married Rajesh Khanna at the age of 15, six month before the release of her first film ‘Bobby’ in 1973.
“I became a wife at 15 and was a mother of two at 18. So what? Lots of women marry young and become mothers at a young age. The only really special thing that happened to my life was that I married superstar Rajesh Khanna,” she added.
She has two beautiful daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinkie Khanna. Twinkle is the wife of actor Akshay Kumar and now she is a columnist of a daily newspaper.
