Joy Mukherjee’s unreleased film ‘Love in Bombay’ to be released.
It is the hundredth year of Hindi cinema and perhaps there could not have been a more opportune moment for Bollywood actor and filmmaker Joy Mukherjee to be honoured. On his birth anniversary, Mumbai’s Yari Road was renamed after him. Dilip Kumar and wife Saira Banu inaugurated what will now be called the Shri Joy Mukherjee Marg. Saira has worked with Joy in a few films and hence, she got emotional as she recollected fond memories with the actor. Banu, who has acted with Mukherjee in films like ‘Aao Pyar Karen’, ‘Shagird’ and ‘Door Ki Awaz’ said that she did not think that she would need to do this for her former co-star. “I never thought that Dilipsaab and I would be inaugurating a road in Joy’s name. He was a very good actor,” says Banu about the actor who passed away last March.
At the inauguration of the Shri Joy Mukherjee Marg his sons Monojoy and Sujoy Mukherjee and the latter’s wife Neelam Mukherjee were also present and Monojay said that they were planning to release an unreleased film of their father’s. “I am planning to release the film ‘Love in Bombay’ on March 12, this year,” says Monojay. The film stars Waheeda Rehman opposite Mukherjee.
