Sonu Sood, who will next be seen as a soldier in JP Dutta’s war film, Paltan has always been impressing audiences with his extraordinary performances and physique. Sonu made his place with his own hard work. Without any filmi background and star support, Sonu Sood created his own path to success.

Born and brought up in Punjab, Sonu enrolled for engineering in Nagpur where he completed his engineering and simultaneously did modelling. Interestingly, in the third year, Sonu started developing his interest in action.

In an interview with Komal Nahta, he said that he shifted to Mumbai with Rs 5,500 in his pocket and has seen tough time during his struggling period as well. He also revealed in an interview that Satish Kaushik once told him that he will be suitable for the villainous character. At that time, Sonu felt very bad but after seeing his success, he thought Satish Kaushik was right at that point in time.

During struggling days, Sonu has lived in PG rooms with six people. Speaking to an entertainment portal, Sonu said, “It was a tough phase. I often felt lonely. I shared my room as a paying guest with six others. We had a carpet in my room which used to stink because of the rains. There were a few rats there too. For three-and-a-half years, I stayed as a PG at various places. After that, I shifted to a rented apartment with three roommates. Those years taught me a lot. I think it’s important to go through that grind to be able to cherish the good things that happen to you afterwards.”

Just like many strugglers, Sonu has also faced casting couch situation during his struggling days. While recollecting that incident, he said, “Yes, I’ve been asked for sexual favours several times. But I never gave in. You know, coming from a small town, I was a shy person. I never responded to such offers. I felt awkward every time someone gave me such hints or asked me to meet them in person at Madh Island. Such things scared me to death and I always made sure that I was accompanied by one of my struggling friends whenever I went to such places.”

While being on his journey to success Sonu happened to lose his mother. However, his wife Sonali Sood and two sons Ishaant Sood and Ayaan Sood have always support system of this life. Hence, Sonu did many Tamil films like Kallazhagar, Nenjinile, Sandhitha Velai, Raja and others. In 2002, Sonu made his Bollywood debut in the film Shaheed-E-Azam. Later, he worked in many films like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Sheesha, Yuva, Dabangg, Happy New Year and so on.

Currently, his Paltan is scheduled to release on September 7, 2018.
