I shared my room as a paying guest with six others. We had a carpet in my room which used to stink because of the rains. There were a few rats there too. For three-and-a-half years, I stayed as a PG at various places. After that, I shifted to a rented apartment with three roommates. Those years taught me a lot. I think it’s important to go through that grind to be able to cherish the good things that happen to you afterwards.”

But I never gave in. You know, coming from a small town, I was a shy person. I never responded to such offers. I felt awkward every time someone gave me such hints or asked me to meet them in person at Madh Island. Such things scared me to death and I always made sure that I was accompanied by one of my struggling friends whenever I went to such places.”
