UGC has invited applications for four scholarship programs for students.

University Grants Commission, UGC has invited applications for four scholarship programs for students. Students can apply for these programs through the National Scholarship Portal of the Government of India – scholarships.gov.in.

The last date for the students to apply for the scholarship programs is October 31, 2022. These scholarships are the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship for North Eastern Region, PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders and the PG Scholarship for SC, ST Students Pursuing Professional Courses.

The eligibility criteria and basic aim of the scholarships have been given below.

Ishan Uday Special Scholarship for North Eastern Region

Students from the North East states can apply for this scholarship. This is for the candidates whose family have an annual income of less than RS. 4.5 lakh. A total of 10,000 scholarships will be awarded every year under this.

As per the guidelines issued, the distribution of slots amongst the North Eastern states will be done on the basis of population census. Under this scholarship, students will be given a total of Rs 5,400 per month for general degree courses and Rs 7,800 per month for technical/medical/professional/paramedical courses.

PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

Female candidates who have applied for a postgraduation degree in UGC recognisied universities and are in their first year can apply for the scholarship. Under this, students would be given Rs. 36,200 per annum and every year, 3000 fresh scholarships would be awarded to students.

PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders

Students who secured the first and second ranks during their UG courses and those who are admitted in a PG courses can apply for the scholarship. Under this, students would be given a total of Rs 3,100 per month.

PG Scholarship for SC, ST Students

Students from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes categories who are pursuing professional courses at institutes affiliated with UGC can apply for this scholarship.

Under this scholarship, students in M.E and M.Tech courses will receive Rs 7,800 per month and students enrolled in other courses will receive Rs. 4,500 per month.
