Born on January 11, 1973, Rahul Dravid, famously called as ‘The Wall’ defined an entire era of cricket for his fans. Dravid started playing the sport at the age of 12 and went on to become one of India’s most-loved players. He is regarded as the player who was a master in Test cricket. There is yet to be another batsman who can be termed as ‘The Wall’ in Indian cricket.
You may have loved the game thoroughly, but no one can deny that Dravid had stolen a lot of hearts for reasons that had little to do with his skills on field. He was always well-spoken off the field, he was always considered as a true gentleman when it comes to the game itself. This Marathi mulga from Indore is a class when it comes to the men we could grow up admiring.
Dravid never spoke about his family, wife, children in person. His father worked at Kissan Jams, having given him the nickname Jammy. His mum was a professor of architecture. When he was still young his family moved to Bangalore where he developed a keen interest in cricket in growing up.
Today as ‘The Wall’ has turned 45, here we take a look at some of the pictures of his real life about which hardly anyone knows.
