A streaming platform unveiled the first poster of Kathal The Jackfruit, which is headlined by actress Sanya Malhotra. The woman-led satire is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra, who has also written the film along with veteran writer Ashok Mishra.
Sanya, who plays a cop in a film for the very first time in her career, says, “I hope whatever we showed a little about our film, people will love it. I am very excited to play a cop for the first time, and it is a very important film since we are dealing with a social message which is being told in a humorous way.”

Asked if she had Kathal on the sets, she joked, “How could I have eaten? Everyone was looking for it since it got lost. I would request people to join us in hunting for the lost Kathal, or in case anyone finds it, he or she will be rewarded with 10,000 rupees.”

While praising Sanya, producer Guneet Monga avers, “This is my second time associating with this exceptionally talented girl after Pagglait. I am even thinking of rename my production house to Sanya Entertainment. I feel comedy comes to her naturally and she has embodied it so well.”
Guneet further says, “I hope in the coming days, our film Kathal The Jackfruit will become socially relevant since it’s a satire. It is a really important film for our times. I fell in love with the script. Besides, I love other vegetables too. If our film helps in spreading happiness, we will feel that our mission is accomplished.”
Set in a small town, Kathal The Jackfruit, revolves around a local politician whose prized jackfruits go missing and a young police officer is adamant about solving this bizarre case to prove herself. Kathal The Jackfruit is backed by Guneet Monga and Ekta Kapoor and also stars Anant Joshi, best known for playing the titular role of Bhasskar Tripathi in the web series Virgin Bhasskar.
