Earlier this month, the official Twitter handle of the Cannes Film Festival shared that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film 'Kennedy' has been officially selected to be officially premiered at the prestigious film fest, this year.
On Monday evening, the 'Dev D' filmmaker took to social media to unveil the official poster of 'Kennedy', which stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhatt. He captioned the post saying, "Aankh, Cannes sab khule rakhna...Kennedy aa raha hai! Here's the official poster of #Kennedy, which is set to premiere at Festival De Cannes later next month!"
Soon after he shared the poster, his colleagues from the industry, flooded the comment section with their best wishes.
Filmmaker and friend Vikramaditya Motwane commented, "Stunning."
Actor Anil Kapoor commented saying, "Congratulation Anurag."
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar added, "Love the poster."
The film is expected to be screened under the Midnight Screening section at the international fest.
From the looks of it, the film is about a desparate ex-cop, who is understood to be dead, but is secretly working against a depraved system. The poster features Bhatt as the said cop with Leone screaming against a doorway, promising an absolute noir film, which is Kashyap's forte.
In the past editions, many of Kashyap's films have been screened at Cannes, making him a regular fixture. From 'Udaan', 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Ugly', 'Bombay Talkies' 'Masaan' and 'Raman Raghav 2.0', the filmmaker has been the most notable face of the Indian film industry at the fest, by far. In 2013, he was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema.
While the filmmaker has had a dismal few months following the consecutive failures of both 'Dobaara' and 'Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat', he is surely forward to bouncing back with 'Kennedy'.
