World Nature Conservation Day: Bhopal renewal energy plants prevented 72 lakh tons CO2 emission

Bhopal: On World Nature Conservation Day Free Press interacted with MD of the Urja Vikas Nigam Manu Shrivastava on the various initiative of the corporation. He informed that by using the LED bulbs people have saved 340 crore units of power per year, which is around 94 lakhs units of power per day.

“Till date by using the renewal energy generation plants we have prevented more than 72 lakh tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) gets mixed into the environment. To purify the air of equivalent amount of CO2 we would need 18 crore full grown trees,” he claimed.

He said that LEDs have not only saved the nature, but have also saved people’s money. “The tubelights have also saved 3.2 crore units and fan have saved 2.2 crore units of electricity. People have saved an estimated Rs 2128 crore in year which is around Rs 5.83 crore per day,” he claimed.

He added that in new and renewal energy is one of the major component of developed countries. He said, “Non renewable natural resources will end one day and their cost is on rise. Not just this traditional means of energy like power generation plant running with coal pose threat to nature with its carbon dioxide emission.” “However, solar plants, wind plants, small hydro plants, biomass and energy efficiency have saved huge amount of money and also saved huge amount poisonous gas into the environment,” he added.
