Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh)
Panchayat polls might not be as consequential as ones meant for parliament or assembly but candidates leave no stone unturned to woo voters.
The candidates despite being under watchful eyes of State Election Commission, make efforts to dole out freebies among voters and one such amusing incident has been reported from Shivpuri district.
Natives of Mohra village under Kolaras block in Shivpuri on Thursday spotted an abandoned bike which was laden with what they described ‘ready-to-fry’ chicken inside a plastic bag.
They informed the police which in turn seized the bag and the bike as well.
Locals alleged that the bag was meant for distribution among voters in local areas ahead of panchayat polls’ second phase on July 1.
To add, the locals had spotted the bike laden with a plastic bag and after waiting for the owner of the two-wheeler for a while, opened that bag and found chicken and realised that it must be for distribution among the voters.
