Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): In a setback to Congress at a time when assembly elections are on doorstep, several leaders joined BJP in presence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Gwalior.
Asha Dohre, a contender for Congress ticket from Ashoknagar district, reached Jai Vilas Palace, along with four-time councilor Anita Jain and sector president Vikas Jain. Congress’s Rakesh Jain, former city president of Shivpuri also joined BJP.
In the video, members can be heard saying, “Maharaj apke bina kuch nahi,” as they garlanded Scindia.
According to reports, Congress leaders became emotional while taking the membership and promised to never leave Scindia's side.
Speaking on the occasion, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “I always try to build heart-to-heart relationships with members.”
Just two days ago, the Jai Vilas Palace rocked with protests from BJP leader Munnalal Goyal’s supporters after the party denied him ticket from Gwalior East seat. Amidst all the ruckus, the Congress members joining the BJP must have come as breather to both Scindia and BJP.
