BHOPAL: The government is going to lift ban on transfers of officers from July 1 to 31 after demands from the ministers.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at a press conference on Friday that, he had promised that, the restrictions on transfer would be lifted from May 1. It, however, could not be done because of the second wave of the pandemic, he said. As a few transfers should be done on humanitarian grounds and for administrative purposes, the government has decided to lift ban on transfers from July 1, Chouhan added.

According to sources, it has been made part of the transfer policy that those who are severely down with corona will not be shifted.

Apart from that, the cases of those officers who have been transferred between March last year and June this year will be sent to the Chief Minister.

The cases of those who were transferred through Coordination after the Congress came to power will go to the Chief Minister through the chief secretary.

In case of a dispute over the transfer of any first class officer, the matter will be sent to the Chief Minister.

There were demands during Chouhanís one-to-one meetings with the ministers that the ban on transfer of officers should be lifted.

Besides that, there were demands from the ruling party organisation for lifting ban on transfers.

In 2019, ban on transfers was lifted during the Congress rule. After that, transfers were made by the Chief Minister through Coordination. Once the ban is lifted, the ministers will be able to transfer officers.

Trouble for in charge ministers

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave ministers the responsibility of the districts, but that was related to making arrangements for the handling the corona pandemic. A few of them were given the charge of their home districts.

The government has, however, yet to declare the names of the in charge ministers of districts.

An in charge minister is authorised to transfer the officials within the district for which he is responsible.

Therefore, the names of in charge ministers of all the districts should be declared before June 30.
