Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh said here on Thursday all the preparations had been completed for the 2nd phase of three-tier panchayat polls to be held on Friday, as per an official statement from State Election Commission.
The voting will be conducted from at 23,967 polling centres in 7,655 village panchayats across the state from 7 am to 3 pm. Among these, 3,580 polling centres are sensitive, according to the Commission.
Counting of votes will be held at the polling centres immediately after polling.
Singh made an appeal to voters to exercise their franchise fearlessly. Tight security arrangements have been made for the purpose of conducting polling peacefully.
The commissioner said more than 49,000 police force personnel had been deployed for the second phase of polling. Polling teams have left for all the polling centres.
According to the State Election Commission, the village panchayats going to polls on Friday fall under 106 janpad panchayats in 47 districts.
After unopposed election at some posts, the number of posts for actual election is 291 for district panchayat members, 2,227 for janpad panchayat members, and 7,373 for sarpanch post and 22,451 for panch post.
