Nepal Plane Crash: 18 Killed As Flight Crashes At Tribhuvan International Airport In Kathmandu

Nepal Plane Crash: There were 19 people on board. Images and videos of wreckage of the plane on fire were being widely shared on social media. The plane crashed while it was taking off from Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport.

Nepal plane crash: A plane crashed at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday (July 24) during take off. There were 19 people aboard the flight 9N-AME (CRJ7). Images and videos of wreckage of the plane on fire were being widely shared on social media. The plane crashed at 11:11 am. The pilot of the plane was rescued from the wreckage and rushed to hospital.

The Kathmandu airport, is considered to be a tough one to navigate the planes around due to mountainous terrain nearby.

As per report by The Himalayan Times, technical staff of the Shaurya Airlines was travelling in the plane when it crashed. The plane was being taken for maintenance to Pokhra Regional Airport.

Firefighters, police and even army was deployed at the site immediately after the crash.

The crash was captured on CCTV and the footage is being widely shared on social media.

This is not the first time Nepal has been in news for a fatal plane crash. Just last year, in the month of January, a Yeti Airlines plane with 68 passengers aboard crashed in Pokhra. All 68 passengers died.
