Viral Video: Netizens Spot 'Wild Animal' During Oath Taking Ceremony At Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi Police Says It Was House Cat

New Delhi: A short clip from the oath ceremony of the Modi 3.0 government that took place on Sunday has surfaced online. It shows Madhya Pradesh MP Durgadas Uikey, also known as DD Uikey, swearing in as one of the Union Ministers. The footage is going viral on social media after netizens spotted something unusual in the background. It showed an animal, allegedly a leopard, walking at the Rashtrapati Bhavan when the minister was carrying out the official procedure on the stage. However, the Delhi Police ended all speculations and took to X to clarify that the animal spotted was a common house cat.

The Delhi police also advised against paying heed to "frivolous rumours".

However, netizens replied to the Delhi Police post with hilarious comments.

The video opened showing the BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh signing the official documents at the oath ceremony. Seconds after taking his oath at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he signed the papers and greeted President Droupadi Murmu. As he stood up from his seat and approached bowed his head and conveyed a Namaste to the honourable president of India, netizens shifted their spotlight to the background.

They spotted a four-legged creature taking a stroll above the stairs. People guessed it to be a leopard, or another wild animal that was spotted at there during the event. Some even suggested that the animal could have been either a cat or a dog that entered the premises. One of the comments, read, "Likely a sniffer dog with security forces."

As the clipping rolled out on the internet with the claim that a wild animal was spotted walking in the background as the ministers took oath at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 8, some believed the footage to be edited with focus on its background. However, similar visuals were recorded during the live broadcast on DD, an Indian public broadcaster.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan displays a rich flora and fauna. According to the official website, it is home to many animals and birds, including 136 wild plant species and 84 animal species.

Who Is DD Uikey?

The BJP leader contested and won the recent Lok Sabha elections from the Betul (St) constituency in Madhya Pradesh. He defeated Congress candidate Ramu Tekam with a stunning margin of 3.79 lakh votes. In the Modi 3.0 government, Uikey was sworn in as an MoS, after his second consecutive win.
