Sourav Ganguly’s Phone Worth ₹1.60 Lakh Stolen From Kolkata Home; Concerns Raised Over Data Theft

Former Team India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly's phone worth INR 1.60 lakh was reportedly stolen from his home in Kolkata In January. Ganguly reached out to Thakurpukur Police Station to file complaint for a missing diary after his mobile was traced at 11:30 am in the morning on Saturday, January 10.

Ex-BCCI chief has been using expensive phone until it went missing last month. After the phone theft at his Kolkata home, Sourav Ganguly raised a concern about his potential exposure to personal details which was stored on the device. Ganguly sought help from police in order to protect his personal data from potential misuse or compromise.

A senior police officer stated that search operations have begun to find Ganguly's missing phone and will start to interrogate workers who are currently painting his house in Behala Chowrasta.

Sourav Ganguly urged the police to find the phone or take appropriate action in order to ensure that all his sensitive data, especially bank account and contact details are prevented from being misused.

"I think my phone was stolen from home. I last saw the phone around 11:30 am on January 19. I tried to find the phone but couldn't find it. Deeply concerned about the loss of my phone. Because the phone has multiple contact numbers and access to personal information and accounts. I request you to trace the phone or take appropriate action." Ganguly said as quoted by HT Bangla while filing the complaint at Thakurpukur Police Station

'It's loss-making tournament' - Sourav Ganguly on India not hosting U19 World Cup

Meanwhile, India are taking on Australia in the U19 World Cup 2024 Final at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Sunday. Aussies won the toss opted to bat first against Boys in Blue.

Prior to the title clash between India and Australia, Sourav Ganguly was was asked why India cannot host the U19 World Cup. To which, former India captain responded that there's no particular reason behind India not hosting the tournament, adding that the idea of the U19 World Cup is to take game of cricket to different parts of the world. He also busted the myth that BCCI doesn't host the tournament because it is non-profitable.

"There is no particular reason to it (India not hosting the U-19 World Cup). The other World Cups are played in India. What's wrong if this one is played in places where the senior World Cups don't take place that often? It's one way of taking the game to other countries," Ganguly said to Revsportz

"You can say it's a loss-making tournament. Most World Cups not featuring the senior men's teams are non-profit. But that's not the reason the U-19 World Cup hasn't been played in India. And I think it's going to be held in India," he added.
