With Pakistan track and field athlete Arshad Nadeem clinching a historic gold medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics, a Pakistan politician and a lawyer named Rana Mashood was seen crediting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the same. In a video emerged on social media, the two were seen celebrating, with Mashood claiming that it was the PM who gave Nadeem an opportunity. Nevertheless, it has sparked a meme fest on social media.

Nadeem, the 27-year-old, registered a record throw of 92.97 meters to clinch gold in the Olympics this edition. The track and record athlete comes from a humble background, but had upstaged defending champion and firm favourite Neeraj Chopra, whose best throw in the competition was 89.45 meters and had to settle for silver.

Here's what the netizens had to say about the clip:

Shehbaz had already come under criticism for posting an old photo on X of him giving the 27-year-old athlete a cheque of PKR 10 lakh.

"I was even confident of throwing beyond 92.97m" - Arshad Nadeem

Following his performance, Nadeem thanked everyone who kept him in their prayers and credited his fitness for the performance he gave. He also vowed to work harder moving forward and target throwing breaking his own record. As quoted by NDTV, he stated:

"I am thankful to the nation. Everyone prayed for me, and I was hopeful of doing well. Over the years, I got a knee injury and recovered, and worked hard on my fitness. I was even confident of throwing beyond 92.97m, but that throw was enough for me to get the gold. I will continue to work hard and give my best in the days and months to come. I am planning to throw beyond this mark as well."
