Pune Viral Video: PMC Truck Falls Into Huge Sinkhole, Driver Jumps To Save Himself
The incident occurred at the premises of the city post office in the Budhwar Peth area of Pune city after a portion of the premises caved in. Underground work for Pune Metro is ongoing in the area, but the reason for the sinkhole has yet to be ascertained, said a fire brigade official to PTI.
A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) vehicle fell into a big sinkhole near Samadhan Chowk on Laxmi Road on Friday at around 4 PM.
However, the driver showed presence of mind and quickly jumped off the vehicle to save himself.
After the incident was reported, 20 jawans from the fire department and police officials arrived at the spot for the rescue operation.
In the CCTV footage, which is now available and going viral on social media, one can see the civic body's cleaning vehicle standing there. Even two students pass by it. As the driver is taking the truck out of the premises, a portion of the land caves in, and the back wheels of the truck sink into it. In seconds, the whole truck goes inside the sinkhole as the land collapses. One can also see the driver rescuing himself and the person who was helping the driver get the truck out of the premises running to assist him.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Subhash Jadhav, fire officer, said, "The PMC suction septic tank vehicle went to clean the toilet near City Post premises, Samadhan Chowk. Suddenly, the soil caved in and the whole vehicle fell into the pit. Along with that, two motorcycles also fell into the hole. The driver of the septic tank vehicle jumped and saved his life. Fortunately, no fatalities occurred."
