Former Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh appears before CBI as per bail condition

Former Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh appeared at the CBI office in Bombay Kurla Complex on Tuesday after being granted conditional bail by the Bombay High Court in a money laundering case on 28 December.

Among the bail conditions imposed by the HC is that Deshmukh cannot leave Mumbai without the prior approval of the trial court and must cooperate with the investigation.

CBI searches premises of WCL official's premises in disproportionate assets case 

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted searches at residential and office premises of an officer of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) in a disproportionate assets case in Maharashtra's Nagpur, an official said.

The searches were conducted at the accused official's premises in Nagpur and Umred, the official said. 

A case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused official on December 29, 2022, said M S Khan, deputy inspector general and head of branch of CBI, ACB Nagpur.

As per a release, the WCL official had allegedly amassed assets worth more than Rs 67 lakh disproportionate to his known sources of income. 

At least seven incriminating documents were seized from the accused's possession during the searches, it stated.

Mumbai Traffic Police announces curbs in South Bombay for India-Sri Lanka T20 today

South Mumbai to see traffic restrictions today ahead of the India-Sri Lanka T20 match at Wankhede Stadium.

These parking restrictions will come in effect at 3 pm and will be in place until 11.45 pm, stated a report in Times of India.

According to the advisory issued by Traffic police, parking restrictions have been put in place on D Road, C Road, F Road, F Cross Road; E Road from its junction on D Road up to its junction on C Road [north and south bound] near the stadium.

The IMD has predicted a slight rise in minimum temperature in the days ahead

The city's minimum temperature continued to be below 16 degrees Celsius for the second straight day on Monday. The year's first week began on a chilling note of 15.8 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possible rise in temperature up to 20 degrees Celsius this week.

Meanwhile, the city on Monday breathed poor air with an air quality index (AQI) of 232. Whereas, Navi Mumbai and Chembur had a 'very poor' category AQIs of 352 and 310, respectively. According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the air quality of Mumbai is predicted to remain in the moderate category for the next two days.

The IMD has also predicted slightly cloudy skies throughout the day, for the next two days, while the minimum temperature may go above 20 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday.
