Mumbai: Police on look out for men who opened fire at Kandivali, one killed, three injured
The men were acquaintances and that the motive was reportedly a personal dispute, the police said.
One person was killed and three were injured after two miscreants on bike opened fire near the vicinity of Kandivali police station on Friday night.
The incident took place at around 12.15 am, when two bike-borne men came and started firing indiscriminately. The deceased was identified as Ankit Yadav, and the three injured people were Abhinas Dabholkar, Manish Gupta, and Prakash Narayan. They have been admitted at a government hospital in Kandivali and are undergoing treatment.
“As per our primary investigation, it appears that the firing incident happened over a dispute that took place during Gokulashtami,” an officer said.
“No arrests have been made so far. The suspects have been identified by the victims and we are in search for them currently. This was not a gang war but an old enmity between the accused and the victims,” said a senior official from Kandivali police station.
“Regarding the exact number of rounds fired and the source of procurement of the guns is under investigation,” added the official.
"At around 12:15 am, we got information that two people on a bike opened fire on some people in Mumbai's Kandivali police station area. One person died in the accident and three others were injured. Further investigation is underway," said Vishal Thakur, DCP Zone-11.
