Mumbai: A London-bound traveler was booked for allegedly trying to fly on fake documents and intending to settle in the United Kingdom in a fraudulent manner. On October 27, Jatin Kikani arrived at the Mumbai airport's immigration counter and presented his passport and boarding pass for verification.

The on-duty officer became suspicious upon finding the stamp of 'Youth Mobility Scheme Migrant' on Kikani's passport. When queried, he could not give satisfactory answers.

Accused shows fake papers

Subsequently, the officer sought his academic papers and the accused showed a BSc certificate from the Sant Gadage Baba Amravati University. As the man again stumbled while answering questions related to Amravati, he was handed him over to the wing in charge. Further probe revealed that Kikani's degree as well as the migrant certificate were fake. He admitted paying ₹1 lakh to an agent in Gujarat for getting the 'documents' and obtaining a visa on forged certificates.

A case has been filed against him under the Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (forged document)
