Mumbai Local Update: Central Railway Suspends Services Between Ambernath & Karjat As Brake Failure In Goods Train Causes Disruptions At Badlapur Station
The goods train, traveling from Dolvi, Maharashtra, to Korukkupet, Tamil Nadu, encountered a malfunction in its braking system, causing it to overshoot the home signal at Badlapur station and moved ahead about 50 meters towards platform.
Mumbai, July 31: On Wednesday evening, a brake failure in a goods train led to significant disruption on the suburban services of Central Railway's main line, affecting both local and long-distance train services.
The disruption affected nine local trains, including five that were delayed and four that were canceled, as well as 12 trains that were short-terminated or originated.
The goods train, traveling from Dolvi, Maharashtra, to Korukkupet, Tamil Nadu, encountered a malfunction in its braking system, causing it to overshoot the home signal at Badlapur station and moved ahead about 50 meters towards platform.
According to sources, the goods train was equipped with a second engine, which was utilized to halt the train safely before a potential mishap could occur. "The situation was controlled within 50 meters with the assistance of the second engine, preventing further complications" said an official of CR.
According to CR, issue was reported at 4:30 AM and resolved by 6:50 PM. However, the cascading effects of the incident caused delays in train schedules, with many trains were running behind schedule up to late evening , according to passengers .
