Maharashtra legislature winter session to conclude on December 30
The decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the state assembly and state council; the meetings of BACs of two houses were held on Wednesday.

Nagpur: The ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature will conclude on December 30. The decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the state assembly and also at the Business Advisory Committee meet of the state council.
The meetings of BACs of two houses met on Wednesday as it was decided earlier. The Legislative Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil briefed the decisions made at the BAC meet and read out the business to be taken up on Thursday and Friday.

The last day motion by the opposition will come up for discussion on Thursday. During the ongoing session, the state legislature had unanimously passed the resolution on Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue with a resolve to pursue legal fight to include 865 villages along with Belgaum, Karwar, Nipani, Bhalki and Bidar. Besides, the state legislature also passed the Lokayukta Bill 2022.
The leader of opposition Ajit Pawar, who had earlier demanded that the government should hold winter session for three weeks, reiterated his demand at Wednesday's meeting. Pawar had argued that the state government should not curtail the session as the issues within regard to Vidarbha and Marathwada need to be discussed at length.
The Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and DCM Devendra Fadnavis had said that the government was in favour of a three-week duration of the winter session. Both had claimed that the government would not curtail the duration but would provide enough time for discussion on Vidarbha and Marathwada issues.
The winter session had begun from December 19 in Nagpur after two years. The winter session could not be held in the Maharastra’s second capital in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. After the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed in November 2019, the winter session took place in December in the same year.
