Bankura: Two goods trains collided at Ondagram railway station in Bengal’s Bankura on Sunday morning leading to cancellation of several trains at Kharagpur-Bankura-Adra line under South Eastern Railways (SER).

Incidentally, Adra division serves four districts of West Bengal including Bankura, Purulia, Burdwan and West Midnapore and three districts of Jharkhand including Dhanbad, Singhbhum and Bokaro.

12 wagons of a goods train were derailed after another goods train hit the other from behind. It was learnt that one of the drivers of a goods train suffered minor injuries due to the accident.

It was learnt that 14 trains were cancelled and 3 were diverted due to the collision. After almost four hours the services were reportedly resumed.

It was just a Déjà vu for several people as it reminded everyone of the horrific triple train mishap in Bahanaga station near Balasore in Odisha on June 2 that claimed nearly 300 lives and left more than 1000 people injured.

One Goods train overshot the red signal, Restoration Completed

Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, CPRO South Eastern Railway, speaking on the incident said, "A goods train was standing in the loop line and another train was supposed to stop at the signal, but it overshot the red signal, leading to derailment. Restoration work was completed around 7.30 am and the first train has been moved from the site at around 8.30 am. As of now, 11 trains have been cancelled."
