'Swati Is Not My Cousin': Arvind Kejriwal's Old Tweet Resurfaces Amid Ex-DCW Chief Maliwal's Assault Allegations
However, neither the DCW chief, the AAP nor the police make any official statement on the alleged incident.
Following an alleged assault by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar on Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, an old tweet by the Aam Aadmi Party chief resurfaced on social media. In the nearly 9-year-old tweet, Kejriwal debunked media reports claiming that Swati Maliwal is his cousin.
In a tweet, posted in July 2015, Kejriwal wrote, "Some media houses n opp leaders alleging that swati is my cousin. Complete nonsense. She is not even remotely connected."
"BTW, Breaking News for some channels: She is the daughter of the brother of my uncle's wife's sister's brother-in-law's niece's father-in-law's nephew's sister-in-law," wrote Kejriwal in another tweet.
Kejriwal's tweet was then in context with the nepotism criticism he was facing for appointing Swati Maliwal as Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women. Swati at that point was set to replace the then DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh who had a fallout with AAP.
A former India Against Corruption (IAC) activist, Swati was married to party's Haryana leader Naveen Jaihind who has been considered a close associate of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In February 2020, Swati Maliwal informed about her divorce from husband Naveen Jaihind. "Most painful moment is when your fairytale ends. Mine ended. Navin and I have gotten divorced," she had then tweeted.
"Sometimes the best of people can't stay together. Will always miss him and our life that could have been," Maliwal added.

No official complaint yet by Swati Maliwal
Swati Maliwal also visited the Civil Lines police station on Monday morning but did not lodge an official complaint.
"One police control room (PCR) call at 9:34 a.m. on Monday has been received at Civil Lines police station from a lady saying she has been assaulted at CM House," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Manoj Kumar Meena.
"After some time, MP Madam came to the Civil Lines police station, however, she left stating she would give a complaint later," said the DCP.
However, the police officials are yet to confirm Bibhav's role.
In a post from his official X handle on Monday, BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya claimed that Maliwal alleged that she was assaulted by the personal assistant Kejriwal.
However, neither the DCW chief, the AAP nor the police make any official statement on the alleged incident. No AAP leader has chosen to speak on the matter as well to the media.
