‘.. In Less Than 24 Hours’: Jairam Ramesh Hints At Govt Pressure On BoB For Withdrawing Auction Notice On BJP MP Sunny Deol’s Mumbai Villa

A day after the Bank of Baroda said in a notice that Bollywood actor and Member of Parliament (MP) from Gurdaspur, Sunny Deol, had defaulted on loan of Rs 56 crore, the bank issued a corrigendum on Monday (August 21) and has withdrawn the auction notice of Sunny Deol's villa in Juhu. Congress took a jibe at the development, with party leader Jairam Ramesh saying in his tweet, "This morning, in less than 24 hours, the nation has got to know that the Bank of Baroda has withdrawn the auction notice due to 'technical reasons' Wonder who triggered these 'technical reasons'?"

Earlier, a notice published in the Bank of Baroda had said that the Juhu villa will of Sunny Deol would be e-auctioned on September 25 due to non-payment of Rs 55,99,80,766.

The Bank of Baroda in an earlier notice published in national dailies had mentioned that the 600 sq meter plot property of Sunny Deol in Juhu had to be e-auctioned on September 25. It was for the purpose of recovering the Rs 56 crore dues.

The reserve price for the auction was kept at Rs 51.4 crore. The notice named Ajay Singh Dharmendra Deol alias Sunny Deol as the borrower guarantor. The notice also mentioned Vijay Singh Dharmendra Deol alias Bobby Deol and actor Dharmendra Singh Deol as the gurantors.

The news of Bank issuing notice to Sunny Deol, whose latest offering "Gadar 2" has created a mass hysteria and set the box office ringing, made headlines on August 20. However, the bank revoking the notice a day later on Monday (August 21) has now come under attack from the Congress.
