Counting of votes has begun amid high security. The BJP-led NDA surged ahead with leads in more than 200 parliamentary seats out of 350 for which trends were available, with opposition INDIA bloc ahead in 120, according to television reports.

According to the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, the BJP will emerge as the single-largest party, both in terms of seats and votes. The predictions are a whopping 26-31 seats of the total 42 with a 46 per cent vote share for the BJP, while the TMC will be reduced to 11-14 seats and 40 per cent votes. The Left-Congress alliance is pegged to get 12 per cent votes and the latter probably two seats.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Monday said that a "very robust system" has been put in place. "There are around 10.5 lakh booths. Each booth will have 14 tables. There are observers and micro-observers. Nearly, 70-80 lakh people are involved in the process," he said.

Maharashtra Election Results 2024 Live Updates: On Monday, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis met MNS leader Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai's Dadar area on.
